Our garden is very small, but we make the most of what we have.
I used to love growing flowers, especially lilies and roses – hence the name. Three years ago my daughter suggested we try growing tomatoes. We’ve since grown a variety of tomatoes. This year our small garden is over-run with San Marzanos! What a plant! It positively has a life of its own.
We first grew chillies last year (2009) and had the pleasure of tasty Scotch Bonnet peppers throughout the winter – they freeze really well. This year we’re growing Jalapenos, Scotch Bonnet, Cherry Bombs and ordinary sweet peppers.
2011
We were so pleased with our chillies last summer we’ve planted them again. This year we’ve planted habanero white, habanero chocolate (a beautiful brown), cayenne, jalapeno red, a pepper that originates in Trinidad called 7 pod, and another one called navaho.
Tomatoes this year include the gorgeous San Marzano – I complained so much about their untidy growing habits last year, but the fruit is so delicious I couldn’t resist planting them again.
