My mother, brother, dad, and both grandmothers all have amazing green thumbs, but alas I never stopped to ponder why they enjoyed the art so much. Now I have moved far from home, married, joined the military, and have my own home here in Hawaii. The idea to start gardening came from my interest in cooking and I’ve wanted my own vegetable and herb garden for a long time. Someday when we have children I want them to experience how things grow and appreciate cultivating the land. I’d like to reach the point where I can grow the majority of food I eat. Watering in the mornings is soothing, glimpsing the first buds and shoots is humbling, and encouraging a seed to sprout is so rewarding. I too now understand that living a life watching nature grow is a must.

So far - my tomato plants. They are fascinating. I love vegetable plants the best because it still amazes me that the foods I eat come from the ground.
Hobbies
Definitely, you name it and I love to do it! Knitting, reading, scrapbooking, photography, hiking, biking, running trails, triathlons ... etc.
