My main gardening interest is in tallgrass prairie restoration and wildlife gardening, but I’ve also grown increasingly interested in permaculture and edible landscaping recently.

We moved into our house a few weeks before I gave birth to our daughter, who’s now a very active toddler, so I haven’t had as much time and energy to work on our land as I’d like. However, we inherited a large and beautiful koi pond from the previous owners, and we have expanded our vegetable garden every year since our daughter was born. It’s still small, but less small than it was!

Last year, my mom helped re-landscape our front yard, which had been considerably less beautiful than the back, I also collected seeds from an earlier prairie restoration I did on my parents’ land and sowed them in the “back forty” (we have ~6 acres). I don’t know how they’re doing yet, but I plan to continue that this year. I’m also planning to create a rain garden and an edible forest garden, and have started working on both, though slowly.
