08 Jul 2008Aging beautifully 1 Hydrangea NOT 'Teller Red' and Backyard gardenSunny 28°C / 82°F
I really do think this plant is ’Merritt’s Surpeme’. There are several blooms that are just aging beautifully. I took this picture a few days ago and it really struck me when I was going through the photos. So pretty! Took me a minute or two to figure out which hydranga is w...

08 Jul 2008new bloom is all the way open Hydrangea 'Forever & Ever Double Pink' Blooming and Backyard gardenSunny 28°C / 82°F
The new bloom on ‘Double Pink’ is all the way open and looking good. I’m really pleased with all the growth this plant is putting out and also with this late arriving bloom. If the plant truly blooms on new growth, I should see some more blooms as the season progresses.

08 Jul 2008better picture of the purple bloom Hydrangea 'Endless Summer' #3 Blooming and Backyard gardenSunny 28°C / 82°F
I got a picture that I think shows the colors of the pink and purple blooms a bit better. The pink bloom is just starting to age. It will be interesting to see how these two blooms age. I’m also wondering if I will get any more blooms and if so, if they will actually be blue.

08 Jul 2008back to the normal color Hemerocalli 'Mattie Mae Maxwell' Blooming and Front Yard gardenSunny 28°C / 82°F
My most recent Mattie blooms have been back to their normal color, so I have no idea what was up with the few pale blooms I had at first. I’m thinking they might have formed when it wasn’t getting quite enough water, but that is just a guess. The Matties seem happier with my new wat...

My ditch lilies are still throwing up the occasional bloom and seem a bit happier since I’ve been watering them more. This photo was actually from 7/5/08, but I just go around to going through a few days of photos tonight.

05 Jul 2008Rain at last! 1We had a rainstorm this morning at I got 1/2" of rain, which is not that much but since there has been barely any rain for over a month, it was great. This afternoon, I ran out to get some more staking tape and there was a HUGE crack of thunder that scared me half to death. I got home and...Cloudy 27°C / 81°F

05 Jul 2008I have a bunch of babies now Tomato 'Pink Accordion' Fruiting and Vegetable gardenSunny 25°C / 77°F
I was looking at ‘Pink Accordion’ today and the good news is that it has at least five babies. The bad news is that it is already taller than its stake. I’m going to have to see if I can track down an 8’ stake for it.

05 Jul 2008first baby tomato Tomato 'Henderson's Ponderosa' Fruiting and Vegetable gardenSunny 25°C / 77°F
I saw the first baby tomato on ‘Ponderosa’ the other day. It has grown a little bit from when I first saw it alreay. This is great, but right now ‘Ponderosa’ doesn’t have much in the way of flowers. I do hope I get more than one tomato off this plant! Of course, ...
