One acre lot that was basically sand and rocky soil when we arrived. Have managed to make about 3200 square feet of raised beds that are improving every year with the addition of organics and mulching.
We are big into tomatoes and other vegetables and now have started a personal seed bank or repository where we are trying to save as much genetic diversity of annuals, perennials and the occasional biennial (such as carrot varieties), either by our own efforts or contributions by gardening friends from all over. We keep seeds both at long term (frozen storage) and medium term (cool storage).
We are retired from the work force and enjoying the golden years of retirement. Our only regret is that we wished we had thought to start doing what we are doing now, 40 years ago.
