    Sowing lettuce

    Vegetable garden garden
    Started sowing lettuce. Sowed three trays of three different types of lettuce. Also started sowing onions and some more leeks.

    Planting litle seedlings out

    Vegetable garden garden
    Planted seedlings of cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, turnip and collard out in the vegetable garden. Cabbage butterflies are pretty active so have to keep an eye for eggs on the uderside of the leaves.

    Started sowing my autumn crops. Yellow jelly turnip, Bola de neve turnip, leeks, cabbages, broccoli and brussel sprouts

    The tiniest watermelon ever!

    The first watermelon seems to be ripe, It is the tiniest watermelon ever, smaller than a handball. The others are still growing but this one stopped growing 2 weeks ago so I expect it to be ripe.

    First dog beans

    The first dog beans are getting ready to be harvested. Harvested few dry pods this morning. These will be next year’s seeds.

    Runner beans first pods

    Vegetable garden garden
    After weeks of nothing but beautiful red flowers I found their first pods. Looks like we will have green beans!

    Beans are sprouting

    Vegetable garden garden
    The beans I planted last week are already sprouting. Decided to sow some more beets (the others where transplanted to the garden yesterday), some more kale (none has sprouted in the last seed tray)and some (very) late winter squash.

    Sowing beans

    Sowed some beans today (I sowing beans in every bare spot in the veg garden). Since our warm season is a long one here (we still have at least 3 months of hot days) I think they will have enough time to grow and produce beans. Anyway, my plan is to harvest them as green beans so they don’t ...

    First tomatoes

    Collected my first ripe tomatoes. They are cherry tomatoes. The other two varieties still have very small green tomatoes (they were planted a lot latter than the cherry)

    The first tomatoes are almost ready to be picked. I think they will be ripe in the next one or two days.
