11 Oct 2009Supposed to be near freezing tonight Golden Sunshine Bean Harvesting, Japanese Trifele Black Tomato Harvesting, and Brandywine Tomato DyingForecast is calling for 36 degrees tonight. I harvested the onions in the small box, most tomatoes remaining on the vine, and many beans. I also collected some Golden Sunset bean seeds (dry). We don’t care for the pole beans for eating as much as we like the bush beans. Too tough and hairy....13°C / 56°F

The Thymus Camphoratus went into the spiral bed, and Tricolor Sage into the square bed in front of the lilac. Both are supposed to be fully cold hardy. 18 Sep 2009Pulled up, ears taken off Painted Mountain Corn Harvesting and Backyard Edibles gardenOnly got around 6 smallish ears of corn. Some are not well developed. Earwigs were chowing on them. The stalks and husks are beautiful purple color, quite staining. I wonder if they could be used as a natural dye. The corn is really colorful and stunning.
