I’m a crazy, free-loading, tree-hugging heathen bent on making the world a better place through creativity. Of many exceedingly amateur endeavors, gardening is a most productive favorite of mine.

My first gardening adventure took place when I was nine years old, but after witnessing a double-murder in our back yard, I decided it would be best to take a hiatus. I must confess, though, I’m a dirty girl at heart. I’ve been digging my hands into the soil (of my own accord) for several odd years, now. Granted, the minerals found within the soil have worked miracles for my skin, but I may never again ask anyone how my nails look.

Recently, I’ve managed to obtain some help in the yard from my wonderful dogs. They excel at three things: sampling the flowers when they think nobody’s watching, keeping the neighborhood cats away, and watering the lawn…liberally.

I’m definitely not perfect, but I try to use organic gardening principles whenever humanly (and humanely) possible. In spite of my severely lunatic methods and haphazard planning, I find that I can sometimes feed myself, appeal to the gods, or make a cup of tea.

I plot my gardens here according to different areas of my property. Naturally, some areas are more well-developed than others. In any event, I don’t expect to have much organized here until at least next Spring.

You’ll notice that some of my plants have goofy or unusual names. I like to have fun while I’m gardening. Naming my plants not only serves to help me remember quirky little details about them, but also helps me differentiate between several plants of the same species.

Do enjoy, and say hello if you’d like. Feel free to stop and smell the roses on your way in, but don’t let the nightshade tempt you. Oh, and please don’t step on the bugs. Some of them are my friends.

fruits and vegetables for cooking; edible, drinkable, and medicinal herbs; aromatic flowers for aromatherapy; colorful flowers and foliage for papermaking; bizarre plants for aesthetics; trees for comfort and shelter; anything else the birds, bees, butterflies, and wee-folks might enjoy.
