Germination for the pomegranate seeds has been very varied. The first seeds to germinate have grown into lovely big seedlings now, but there are still a few seeds germinating.

The lemon seedlings have been happily living on the bedroom windowsill for months now, and growing slowly. I decided today that they should be repotted before the get too much older.

It was an easy job, as their root systems were still completely separate. There was an interesting citrus smell while I was repotting them. I couldn’t quite work out whether it was from the leaves (quite likely) or the roots (not impossible).

Now they’re back on the windowsill, ready for spring.

The Grow Dome hasn’t stayed completely above freezing for the whole winter – there was one very cold morning when ice was starting to form on the ponds. However, there’s been no frost damage to any of the plants and even the coriander has survived.

There were a couple of casualties – the dragon fruit plants and a couple of sweet pepper seedlings – that didn’t like the cold/ damp, but everything else is fine and I’m starting to harvest the Chinese greens.

As a prelude to planning my garden for this year I have been clearing out my seed box. In the past I’ve had a bit of a seed obsession, so I have far more seeds than I could possibly sow in the space that I have. So I have a lot to swap or give away.
