Life with clumsy creatures Lupine and Frontyard garden
Dog and husband have the same problem — very big feet which they put in all the worst possible places. Dog put a paw smack down on the lupine and cracked the main stem down by the soil line. I stood it back up and mounded soil up around the crack in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, this i...

    Big Green Nemesis Frontyard garden
A little research on solanaceous weeds has revealed the identity of the nasty thorny thing that has taken up residence between the irises and the pond. Carolina horsenettle. Solanum carolinense L. It’s prickly, poisonous, and perennial. To that alliterative list we can add prolific, as ea...

Settling? Alpine Geranium and Frontyard garden
Of the four: One is blooming (!). Tiny pale pink flowers with rose veining. Adorable! Two are a little shabby but starting to recover. One I am not sure is going to make it.

Sedums: The Next Year 2 Little Pot of Sedums garden

Progress report, September Little Pot of Sedums garden
Was out with the dog this afternoon and thought to snap a photo of the current state of things. Most obviously, the echeveria has grown. I thought it had, but when you look at the two pictures I’ve taken so far, it’s really obvious. ‘Voodoo’ has had kind of a rough start ...

The fun begins 1 Little Pot of Sedums garden
Yesterday, after I got home from work, I went to check on these little guys while I waited for the dog to finish poking around the yard doing his thing. We’ve had enough rain that I really haven’t had to water them, so I haven’t been watching them as closely as I might The R...
