All bolted Chinese Cabbage 'Bok Choy' Flowering and Vegetable garden
I don’t know if it was the cool, wet spring, or what, but every single plant bolted before it started forming nice big leaves. Now that the weather’s getting warmer, I might try a second batch, but probably won’t go for this one again next year.

Thinning newer rows Sassy Salad Mix Showing True Leaves and Vegetable garden
Thinned out the two new rows and did my best to transplant some of the thinnings to bare areas of the bed. Have now had two great salads out of the first planting, and there’s still plenty more!

First batch Sassy Salad Mix Harvesting and Vegetable garden
Harvested some of the arugula in this mix, it was way bigger than a lot of the other varieties, so I figured I should thin it out. Chopped it up for fajitas, and had a little salad with the extra. My first meal from the garden this year.

The angel's fishing rod Dierama and Frontyard garden
I have kind of a long story as to how I hooked up with this plant. Near an old office of mine, there was a nice coffee house that I’d get lunch at a lot. One of guys that worked there must have had an amazing garden, he would bring great arrangements in for the counter all summer long. Then...

    Late frost? Vegetable garden
Weather man says late cold snap comin – snow, hail, frost. Put the old row cover over the veggies (not potatoes, can’t hurt them). Also covered up the frost-bitten hydrangea a bit, but the cover doesn’t want to stay on. Hope it’s not too bad, I was looking forward to some ...
