    Spring cleaning Vegetable garden
    Cleared out the existing bed, fertilized – and started making space for a new bed. Salvaged a couple pieces of fiberglass roofing and made a separate section for the potatoes so I don’t have to disturb other plants’ roots. Sowed some leftover lettuce mix from last year, if it do...

    Spring clean-up Frontyard garden
    Pruned back all the old growth, weeded and raked out the beds in the front. The heavy snow seems to have stunted the grass a bit, but most everything else is coming back pretty well.

    Green garden chutney Vegetable garden
    Well, it was obvious that the rest of my tomatoes weren’t going to ripen, and I still had a few tomatillo fruits, and some thai chilies that were still green. Picked ’em all and made a sweet chutney.

    Took the last three stubby peppers for a green chili. Yum.

    Chickens love currant berries Red flowering currant 'Alba' and The side yard garden
    Discovered that chickens really love red currant berries, and why wouldn’t they, it is considered an important native bird plant. There’s also been a song sparrow and juncos rooting around for the fallen berries.
