Bug magnet! Goldenrod Flowering and Frontyard garden
I am so glad I got this plant! It’s doing very well, fits into its space nicely, and has lots of big flower spikes on it. The flowers just started opening and it’s attracting all sorts of good bugs (the main reason I planted it). Longhorn beetles, a clearwing moth, bumble and honey be...

Flowering San Marzano Tomato Flowering and Vegetable garden
Finally getting some flowers. I must have been too late on these, most of my neighbors have had fruit for weeks now.

Stopped producing Nickel "Haricots Verts" and Vegetable garden
Picked pretty much the last of the beans today. Very few new flowers. I pruned all the plants a bit to see if that would stimulate some new growth and more production. I hope! I’ve been really enjoying having fresh beans every few days.

First fruits withered and died Sugar Pumpkin and Vegetable garden
The first 4 or 5 fruits got brown spots, then shriveled up and died. Might have been the terrible heatwave we had. We had a bit of a cool down last weekend, and a few more have started to form. Hoping these will make it all the way. Meanwhile, the vines have been going nuts! They’re huge!

I’ve been pulling a few that are growing too close. Pulled a few today that I’d actually call carrots.

Noticed a few fruits starting to form. I’ll let each vine produce two, and snip off the rest.

    Less lawn 1 Pavers garden
After 4 weeks of neglect, the lawn (such as it is) was in a state. Mowing was a nightmare, and we decided now was the time to get rid of some more grass. This one patch 4×6′ between three sidewalks and the porch was next up. Aaron tacked the sod with the pulaski. Then we went and got s...

No doing well Bleeding Heart Dying Down and Backyard garden
Barely came up at all this year. I think it got crowded by a lady fern growing right next to it. If it dies, I don’t think I’ll replace it, but I might add one by the water feature if we ever build it.

First delicious batch 1 Nickel "Haricots Verts" Harvesting and Vegetable garden
Harvested the first batch of beans. Harder to pick than I thought they would be. The stems are tough, and the plants are very compact and it’s difficult to get in there to cut them. Got a good-sized bowl full, put them in a little sauté with Andouille sausage, mushrooms and carrots over maf...

Thinned again Lacinato Kale Harvesting and Vegetable garden
Pulled about half of the remaining plants. The rest now have enough room to mature and I’ll only harvest the leaves. Think I’ll make another fritatta with it.
