Harvests and impending harvest . . .
Eggplant Flowering, Square Foot Bed #2 garden , Tomatoes, Sweet Millions Harvesting, Tomatoes, Better Boy H...24°C / 75°FWow, so far my harvest has been wonderful this spring and summer! Tomatoes: My two cherry tomato plants have been producing probably a pint a week between them for the past month, and since I pick my tomatoes when they just start to break, I have been getting most of them rather than the birds. ...

24°C / 75°FToday both my schedule and the weather let me spend some serous time in the garden. I did some major pruning on my 3 year old rosemary, which grew funky years ago and I am still correcting it. Then I pulled up three onions that I had let overwinter, thinking they would form nice big bulbs. Man,...

Cloudy 19°C / 66°FIt has been so nice not to have to buy lettuce for salads for the last three weeks. We have had enough lettuce of different varieties for big dinner salads two or three times a week, and a couple of lunch salads for me and the kids. I definitely need to plant some more squares soon, so that we ...

Cloudy 19°C / 66°FI think I have harvested over two pounds so far from these plants. They are literally producing more than we can eat, but thankfully even the more mature pods are delicious blanched. I think next year, I will only plant one square of these. Or at least, only one at a time! :)

Cloudy 19°C / 66°FI love seeing these big beautiful blooms every spring. And every year, the blooms just get bigger and more prolific. I am very glad we got rid of the lawn crew that kept weed whacking them!

So, my trees lost all their leaves over the weird winter, but are in full leaf this Spring. They may be even healthier now than they were before. I am going to be pinching ALL of the baby citrus off both trees this Spring. I want to help the trees focus their growth on strong straight trunks, ...Cloudy 19°C / 66°F -

After taking severe damage from the weird winter, I was hoping these would come back, but no dice. If they were going to, they would have by now. I am especially sad about my hibiscus. I have had it for 5 years or more, and even moved it from my old house to our new one.Cloudy 19°C / 66°F -

Cloudy 19°C / 66°FYum. Cut down the entire plant and made a big batch of pesto along with leaves from all my other basil plants. Even after enjoying the pesto over angelhair one night, and in grilled cheese the next day, both my kids and my husband did double takes and asked what happened to the plant! shakes h...

Warming up, getting in the mood
This past winter, the weather has been absolutely freaky for Houston, cold and nasty, even snowy. Consequently, I have not felt the need to go outside, nor even thought about gardening. But the weather is changing. I can feel the Spring coming around the corner. I’m tired of buying bland ...Cloudy 9°C / 49°F
