Beginner gardener that got handed a nice established garden, mostly containing hedging and shrubbery. Unfortunately the garden which is now 10-13 years old has begun outgrowing itself. I have had to remove many suffering conifers and have decided to add in some more varieties to hopefully give add a splash of colour to its lushness.
Had some advice from a professional which has been great but like any other enthusiastic beginner I am afraid I am very tempted when shopping and I bring home all sorts of inappropriate plants.
I probably am underselling myself with my ‘beginner’ approach as I have had and enjoyed plants and gardens since I was a teen. I think its partly having such an array of plants in my garden that I didn’t know what they were and how to care for them (although that is changing) and being out of my comfort zone with the seasonal changes (winter!).
This is because I am a kiwi (New Zealander) living in England!
