No go on these tomatoes :( Blossom end rot for the lose tomatoes - Italian (Don Burks Italian Selection) Dying Down and Bed 1 garden
The tomatoes haven’t enjoyed the recent weather. I’ve been careful and was using exclusion bags to control the fruit fly – have taken a number of bags off to harvest the fruit and found the bottoms of all the fruit are rotting. Sad. The roma’s seem ok – but these a...

All going well - massive 'greens' harvest
A massive harvest from the silverbeet and pak choy. I’ve picked the lot, steeped it in hot water, and put in to the freezer as there is far more than we will use for now.

Lots of fruit fly 2 2

Yep – looks like the dreaded Queensland fruit fly is in my neighborhood. There were more of the buggers in the traps last night (male fruit fly trap) which means some controls are necessary. Fortunately I’m currently looking after some friends chickens, so the chooks are being reloca...

Water on the Boil - nice and sweet for new years corn Harvesting and Bed 1 garden
Harvested a few ears, lovely and sweet – and that was raw ;) Looking forward to picking a few ears tonight. Following the ‘have the water boiling’ before picking method to preserve all the sugary sweetness. I’ve been waiting for this moment since I planted the seeds :)

The Heat! and Fruit Fly... 1 1
The heat is literally baking the garden. I’ve resorted to shade cloth and similar to shade vulnerable plants and seedlings, hope it helps. Several fruit fly in the trap today. I’ll set out some baits tonight as I’m not letting the buggers destroy my tomato crop. Otherwise not ...
