I started gardening at age 6 when my first grade teacher had us plant bean seeds in a paper cup. My mom dug out a garden for me in the backyard in which to plant my bean and a gardener was born. While I was growing up, I was allowed to plant anything I wanted in “my garden” and by the time I was 12, I was pretty much in charge of all of our gardens. Gardening was put on hold during college and grad school, and several years of apartment living meant gardening in pots and rented garden plots but I’ve always had the gardening bug and now grow everything from flowers to fruit to vegetables!
