My name is Emily; I’ve lived in Phoenix for about 9 years now and have never gardened- or at least not in any serious sense of the word. I decided this is the year I am going to have my own veggies and fruit to eat and flowers to enjoy. I’m so tired of the bland stuff the grocery stores offer- I want some tomatoes that don’t taste like mushy nothingness!

I own my own business and go to school, so I want to make the most of my time. I’ve been reading so many gardening books, magazines and websites lately I’m dreaming about it! I have decided to try the square foot gardening method since it seems like the best way to go about time and space management.

I’m not super “green,” but I will be attempting to do this garden as organically as possible- I’d rather not have chemicals in my garden but I’ll use them as a last resort. I have a miniature pinscher named Milo, who is our “kid” for all intents and purposes and I don’t want him getting any chemicals in his system either.

Mostly, I want to enjoy this gardening adventure and get some good eats out of it at the same time!
