Well its about time I updated this section!

So long Oscar Wilde and my babies in the garden on the roof! I’ve moved on to Oakland where I’ve got a nice big backyard (“nice” and “big” being relative terms, of course) and permission from the landlord to make what I please of it!

First things first, I had to destroy indestructable wall of blackberry brambles that was dividing the yard in two. I hesitate to make such a claim as only time will tell if i dug and hacked and ripped and stomped deep enough to really get rid of those monsters!

As the summer begins to heat up, I’ve not got all four phases of my garden in the ground. I’m slowly but surely uploading photos and whatnot for all of the stuff I’ve planted.

Naturally, the yard itself is far from done. There was so much dead stuff back there, as well as all kinds of odds and ends from a child’s school desk (the kind with the seat attached to the desk) to an old broken picnic table, to random pieces of particle board decaying into the dirt, and the biggest surprise of all, a brick patio! I seriously had no idea there was brick laid back there until a good month into the process.

So, I’ve still got alot of work to do, but isn’t that what gardening is all about? Tending to the never-ending cycles of life and bringing forth new life for us to admire and delight in….
