I like to plant everything together. That means veggies with flowers and different herbs through out the yard. I also practice IPM and do everything at all possible before grabbing any pesticide or herbicide. Since I started in 2004 the population of beneficial insects has increased tremendously and any pests that do arrive are short lived!
I live in a rural area south of the Spokane, Wa in a region known as the Palouse where grain, lentil and dry land peas are the main industry. Our summer can be hot and the average precipitation is an average 17 inches. The mass majority of that moisture comes between October and early June. We pray for rain the rest of the time :)
In June 2006 I graduated with an AAS Degree in Greenhouse/Nursery Management from Spokane Community College and someday plan to extend my education at WSU in General Horticultural.
Look forward in getting to know you all and visiting your gardens!
