    Too wet still! 3 1
How annoying is it when the days that are sunny – you’re busy elsewhere and the days when it rains endlessly are the ones where you are at home staring out at the garden thinking, I could be clearing, pruning, digging, planting that…I know, I know , serves me right for only bein...

In the snowglobe garden... 4 Happy
All suddenly it flurries round Whipped in eddies from a ground Now frozen hard with the leaves still lying- I forgot to wrap the fig! As snowflakes dress bare bough and twig The snow dances in front of my eyes Falling from a lumpen sky Early forsythia coldly clings Drops of yellow acid against th...

Wet and cold and misty.. 3 4 Happy
Horrible murky weather seems to be the end of the season. The chrysanths and dahlias are beginning to struggle with the rain. Lots of birds about, robin, tits, blackbirds, magpies (catch them hanging off the bird feeder – must get a picture if I can!), woodpeckers, wood pigeons and a tiny l...

Cold, cold wind...clocks go back... 1
Leaves everywhere and the squirrels have been busy rearranging my nice, neat flowerbed – obviously I had the design all wrong…. don’t forget that this Sunday (26th) British Summer Time ends – that’s the end of the long evenings for this year!

Revamp of bed that was shaped a bit like Africa... 1 2 Ripplestone garden
One of the first flowerbeds created when we started on this garden is a south-facing sloped bit between a higher area of the garden (always known as the ‘kids old bark pit’)and the patio. This bed was hastily contructed using old bricks unearthed from clearing the kids bark pit area ...

Mowing the lawn and crossword... 2 Ripplestone garden
Despite the glorious sunshine of the last few days the sun doesn’t really make it over the neighbours trees that line the back of our garden to dry out the dew, the result being that at this time of year mowing the grass is more like a watersport! In fact today it was particularly slippery ...

    Spider safari... 5 1 Happy
Lots of talk on the news in the last couple of days about alien invaders in the garden – went on a spider safari to see what was ‘out there’…

Beech tree short back and sides... Frontyard garden
Have spent the gloriously sunny weekend with us all giving the beech trees a good tidy up. Boys very keen as they have just watched ‘Axe Men’ series. Lots more light. The grass might grow again from where the camp was in the summer. Used some of the smaller twigs to make insect house...
