    So Far So Good

I’ve managed not to kill the little succulent garden yet. The Graptopetalum paraguayense dropped some leaves when I transplanted them, which I guess is common; I plugged the dropouts down into the soil and will see if I can get them to sprout. The G. pentandrum is looking a little peaked...

    Thriving

Lemongrass and Pre-Spring Vegetable Garden garden
The lemongrass continues to thrive, and we’ve even pulled off a few stems and chopped them up very thinly into Thai stir-fry. Good stuff.

    Denied

    Flower garden
Didn’t make it through our cold April. Which, considering we’re moving house this summer, is just as well.

The Few, The Proud, The Carrots

Carrot 'Chantenay Red Cored' and Pre-Spring Vegetable Garden garden
Only a few hardy carrot souls made it through the sprouting effort – I’m keeping them going more as an experiment than anything.

    Buddy

Cornflower 'Black Magic' Budding and Flower garden
I’ve finally spotted the first flower bud on my cornflowers. I can’t wait to see the color of the blooms.

    So Much For Celery

Celery 'Utah Jumbo' and Pre-Spring Vegetable Garden garden
The celery ended up being kind of a bust; one warm turn in the weather and the balance of them bolted like a spooked horse.

    Still Growing

Leek, Allium an peloprasum HB Repotted and Pre-Spring Vegetable Garden garden
The leeks went into Earthboxes or bigger containers about three weeks ago, and they’re slightly bigger around than pencils now. Grow, tiny leeks, grow!

    Doing OK

Celery 'Utah Jumbo' and Pre-Spring Vegetable Garden garden
The celery is plugging along. Unfortunately, at least three of the plants have bolted, but the rest seem OK. It’s interesting to see them grow; they seem to have too many stalks careening off the main root to ever be able to form into the traditional compact celery bunch, but I don’...

    Transplanted

Leek, Allium an peloprasum HB Potting Up and Pre-Spring Vegetable Garden garden
I separated these little guys and put them into some larger containers so they’ll have room to grow. Eventually they’ll go into an Earthbox, but I want them to get bigger first.
