25 Jun 2008Hangin' in there Pat Sage-ak Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenI removed the leaves that were turning brown because they’d died off completely, and was pleased to note that none of the others had started to get wonky at all. Salvia is starting to look a lot better, though he doesn’t seem to be growing very quickly at all. Which is just fine.Overcast 32°C / 89°F

25 Jun 2008Thoroughly grounded and potted in Christian values Rod Parsley Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenOk, not really. If he starts pontificating to the other plants and trying to convert them to Christianity and take their money I’m throwing him off the roof. I don’t discriminate against religious preference, but I do prefer my plants to remain atheistic. Anyway, Rod has been looki...Overcast 29°C / 85°F

25 Jun 2008It's about bloody thyme! Paul Thymon Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenI’d read that thyme tends to like drier soils so I haven’t been as vigilant about watering Mr. Armstrong, and now he isn’t looking as good as before. One of the little viney stems coming up out of the soil is pretty dried out, but some of it is still green, I think, so I don...Overcast 29°C / 85°F

25 Jun 2008Escape from the kitchen hutch Mint Romney Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenPots were finally soaked enough, and probably not a moment too soon for my peppermint to start looking sad. Currently acclimating on the porch but should be ready for the roof in a couple of days.

19 Jun 2008Getting there . . . Porchmonster Farm gardenI took the train half of the way home yesterday, which allowed for a nap and gave me plenty of energy to pull the soaking planters out and put some herbs in them. A few of them are starting to look a little sad, so I need to get all of them out of the kitchen and into a sunnier spot soon. The r...Cloudy 32°C / 89°F

19 Jun 2008Potted and soaking up sun Lavender Panther Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenNeeded badly to be potted, as the roots were growing out the drainage holes at the bottom of the flat and getting entangled with one another. I was able to peel the flat away without damaging the roots, and now they have plenty of room to grow in a 6.25" terra cotta planter. Lavender Panth...Overcast 32°C / 89°F

19 Jun 2008A hutch-top perch isn't a high enough peak for this sage . . . Pat Sage-ak Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenI chose to pot Salvia over some of the others because some of his leaves were starting to brown around the edges and I’m not sure if that’s from lack of sufficient sunlight or something else. But he’s in a pot and on the porch roof where he belongs, so here’s hoping.Overcast 31°C / 88°F

19 Jun 2008A Place in the Sun Corianderson Cooper Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm gardenPoor Corianderson has been looking kind of sad. All of these guys have been sitting on top of the hutch in the kitchen waiting for sufficiently soaked planters, but he was really not doing well in that setting. So I’ve potted him and we’ll see if a big ol’ dose of direct sunli...Overcast 31°C / 88°F
