Oh my goodness . . . TOMato Joad Fruiting and Om Nom Nom Vegetable garden
When I bought Tomato Joad, he had two or three little green fruits. The biggest one grew up, ripened, and disappeared. Typical of first children, I suppose. Anyway, I moved him up to the roof, and another fruit ripened, and now Tom has all these little baby tomatoes popping up! Just this morn...

THE RIPENING 5 TOMato Bombadil Fruiting and Om Nom Nom Vegetable garden
When I bought this little guy, he had one little fruit growing on him, and still does, but it’s getting nice and red! It’s a lot smaller than expected, but that’s probably because the plant is still pretty small. So I’ll have one heirloom tomato soon. What am I going to...

EATEN ALIVE!! Rod Parsley and Porchmonster Farm garden
A few days ago I was watering everybody before leaving for work and noticed two tiny caterpillars hanging out on Rod but was in a hurry so I didn’t think too much of them and left. I figured I could pick them off later and put them in the front “yard” where they can munch all t...

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking, or growing Basil Fawlty and Porchmonster Farm garden
On Sunday I came home late from a kayaking event to find that my poor plant babies had been neglected all day, sitting in the hot sun in soil baked completely dry. Everybody was wilted and withering and I wasn’t sure some of them would make it. But Basil worried me the most. He looked ne...

Man, chives are not THAT hardy. Chive Anderson Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm garden
Moe told me chives would be way easy to keep happy and healthy, but I don’t think he’s right. Chive Anderson’s leaves starting to turn yellow and die off. I may not have been watering him often enough and he may not have been getting enough light, but there were others on top ...

On the up and up Corianderson Cooper and Porchmonster Farm garden
Last night when I came home from work, I stopped to give Corianderson some water and pull out the leaves and stems that were either dead or clearly not going to make it. Without the clutter, he looks healthier, but I also noticed that his leaves are a darker green and more of them are entire rat...

Future Pesto on the Porch Basil Fawlty Potting Up and Porchmonster Farm garden
Basil is looking good, but I feel he could be a darker shade of green. Also the newer leaves that were beginning to sprout were dried and crinkly, so it’s probably best that I didn’t wait too much longer to pot and acclimate him. He’s on the porch with the other new initiates.
