IndoorsMy poor Teen Kiss has become the victim of a mean sucker. It was doing so nicely in the window light, still a perfect little rosette, and starting to loosen up a bit, in what I thought was anticipation of buds. 3 Aug 2012 Unfortunately, I looked one day to find that there was a HUGE sucker growin...

IndoorsHere is my rescue story in a nutshell, and I’m kind of proud of it. I bought 3 Optimaras from Lowe’s in March – Rh. Cora, Degas and an unknown (unknown because all the blooms had faded and couldn’t be identified and was on clearance for $1.49). I sprayed them for buggies a...

Sunny 32°C / 90°FFinally got the first fully ripe squash – BIG! More Romas, and a couple more cherries. Peppers are almost ready, and the melon continues to get bigger daily. A few ripe raspberries and one beautiful strawberry. The peas and radishes have sprouted and look good!

Sunny 27°C / 80°F… and waiting for a few more to ripen. Lots of big green sweet Italian peppers. They should be starting to redden up soon. Finally some squash that will be edible; it shouldn’t take too long for those to be ready. I spent the morning thoroughly clearing and weeding the veg garden̷...

IndoorsI sent one of the Yesterday’s Evidence babies away to Ohio for a trade with Will C. In return I received an unrooted crown of Cirelda. This is a vintage trailer and one that I was happy to have for my vintage collection. Will also sent three leaves of Magic Trail, a miniature trailer, almos...

IndoorsBloomin’ Jungle was having a sale for the end of the season, and I decided to splurge and order a few more vintage violets. Some of these were the last of her stock, and she was not going to be regrowing or restocking them, I guess from a business perspective, if they weren’t the popu...

Bloom Day as the summer starts to wind down
Dahlia pinnata - Dinnerplate Dahlia 'Thomas Edison' BloomingStorms 29°C / 84°FStill lots of blooms, but some plants are looking tired. And the fecking weeds are everywhere!… enjoying the steamy hot days we have been having. Bloom day honors go to my very pretty, newly bloomed purple Dahlia ‘Thomas Edison’ that I got from Landreth Seeds.
