After years of shopping at our local farmers’ market, we’ve made the next big leap in changing our food shopping habits by starting our own garden at home. We have begun the process of turning our lawn into an organic vegetable garden. Our first steps into gardening are a reflection of our continued interest in the nurturing of sustainable local food economies. We joined a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm this year to also help us supplement our food needs while our garden continues to grow. Our goal is eat seasonably (and locally) as much as possible. It’s not going to be easy, but we think it is going to be an adventure as we learn how to grow our own food.
