Hello, My nectarine has curly leaf – I have spoken to my friend Google and have had so many answers that I am now confused more than ever :O) I have sprayed with pest oil (one suggestion), the other is to take off all the infected leaves….. 10°C / 50°FWeekends are fun as I can let my girls out for a forage around the garden. Another frost again this morning – looks great but the garden is looking slightly shrivelled :O) Unfortunately the rhubarb came of worst yesterday – as you can see from the pictures! this time not due to frost...

22°C / 72°FWell, my chooks have finally settled in and are producing a regular supply of eggs. The eggs are much sweeter than the shop bought ones – is that because of what they have eaten or is just the case for free chooks? I let them out yesterday for a wander – big mistake once they decide...

Two new chooks added to the girls
I now have two Isa browns added to my group – they are way bigger than my poor bantam girls (scarily so). The people that gave them to me didn’t give me the hutch so they are all nestled into my original pen – cosy but as its turning cold it will do. A friend has a similar hut...Overcast 15°C / 59°F -

Spiced Pickled Eggplant - first preserving
Overcast 7°C / 45°FHaving been inundated with eggplant I decided to spice up the eggplant and use it to make a pickle. All done apart from turning the bunk bed bases into a gate and then we will have our 5 star chicken pen. I guess I ought to get some more chickens now as my 2 bantams will look lost inside :O) Best of all I will be able to let the dogs down the back without them wanting to play tag with the choo...

Back online and preparing for more chooks

Getting rid of spitfire caterpillars
Does anyone have a green way of getting rid of huge spitfire caterpillars… my daughter came up with one way (included a pair of tongs, salt and water – not sure if it was very humane). They have attacked my lemon tree and I would like to salvage what is left. Does anyone have any go...Overcast 23°C / 73°F
