Moved bamboo to work
Lucky Bamboo Plant Moved and Houseplants garden
Since Laney took to nibbling on this awhile ago, I took my new lucky bamboo plant into work to keep on my desk. There’s no natural light whatsoever, but there’s plenty of fluorescent light five days a week for at least 7-8 hours. We’ll see how it works out. Pictures to come s...

Cat Grass for Laney Dying
Like all grass I’ve tried growing, this is already on its way to dying. Good news, though….Laney stopped munching on my other houseplants.

The garden is just about ready to be planted, and I’ve actually already started with the boxes that I filled with soil. The other squares just need soil added before I plant in them. But I started planting out anyway where I could. More to come tomorrow…

Basil 1 Hardening Off and 2010 Square Foot garden
This weekend is going to be BIG! I can just feel it. Not only am I hosting a home party, babysitting Ashton, on library duty at church, AND hosting this month’s homeowners’ association meeting (whew! I’m tired just thinking about that), but also I need to mix soil, fill my SFG...

I’ve started hardening off the plants I’m going to transplant next week. We’re getting a lot of rain, though, so I’m wondering if the ground will be dry enough to work. I’m also still waiting on coir and vermiculite to get here…serves me right for procrastina...

Violas in the fridge? Guess it's worth a try...
Violas 1 , 2010 Square Foot garden , and Violas 2
I hadn’t heard of this, but when reading my new SFG book, Mel recommends refrigerating viola/pansy seeds for 2 weeks to encourage germination after they come out of the fridge. It sounds strange, but I tried it. I figure the worst that can happen is that it doesn’t work and I just r...

Sprouting mint and ready to eat grass!
Cat Grass for Laney Harvesting, Houseplants garden , and Spearmint 1 Sprouting
Laney loves eating the cat grass, and I’m hoping it will eventually keep her away from my other plants (ahem, cactus). Also, the mint is FINALLY sprouting. For something so easy to grow, it certainly took its time germinating.

Cat attack!
Houseplants garden and Christmas cactus, red flowers Repotted
Ugh! The cat strikes again! For some reason, she’s extra interested in making my life insane and she DUMPED a whole pot of Christmas cactus from my headboard shelf. BLAH!!!! So I tried to repot it as best I could. I was away for the weekend when it happened, so I have no idea how long ...

So day two of the wind storm turned snowfall, and my school district called off again…for all the crap I sometimes put up with being a teacher, I have to admit I like this part. Yesterday was a big day for gardening and cleaning my house, and to be honest, I’d rather have the time of...
