I live in the NW corner of the US in Zone 8. A maritime zone, it is somewhat mild and a wonderful growing area. In fact, I live in an area well-known for growing nursery stock. Berries and roses grow marvelously here, though due to our rainy and moist climate, black spot and other nasty diseases are common. My husband and I have 2 flat acres with a 100 foot long perennial bed, 1/4 acre flower/vegetable/berry garden and lots of lawn, all bordered by the beautiful evergreen conifers for which the NW is known (Douglas fir and various Cedars).
