The light purple ones are blooming so I brought some in. M’Lady loved her lilacs.

Last night’s low was 26. Despite covering the grapes the leaves that were just starting to look like leaves are about 90% freeze killed. Now we’ll see how long it takes for the secondary leaves to show.
The apple and cherry trees don’t look bad but the blossoms that were there...

Potatoes and onions
26 hills of red potatoes and a row each of ailsa craigs and redglobes.
So it begins again.

The last two days have been warm so I’ve been outside… of course.
Yesterday was tilling. I got Jamie’s and my garden sections for cold crops tilled. Jamie is starting to get the hang of the tiller. I did a first pass to break it up a bit and he wanted to give it a try. Last ...

Spring cleanup in the garden
The garden is partially shaded in the summer by a huge honey locust tree so it is also littered with seed pods from that tree every fall and spring.

Closing down - 2012
This year wasn’t much of a gardening year. DW and I spent the hottest part of the summer (which was most of it) in the house at the air conditioner. Her meds make her very photosensitive (she gets sunburned even in dappled sunlight).

DW and I spent the late afternoon hours at the garden. I weeded and generally cleaned up the herb garden. It actually looks like an herb garden again instead of an abandoned weed lot. There’s still a bit to do, but it looks much better already.
I hope we can spend more time in the garden...

So Begins 2012
… a little later than I thought. C’est la vie.
The flats usually get started for St. Pat’s weekend, but DW spent most of the last two weeks in the hospital. So… um… me too. She needs help with everything and that’s me.
Yes, the nurses are good people and the...

First fall till
The first fall till is done. The mulch I’ve been piling on is all turned under, I’m hoping I can go over the yard this weekend to collect up all the leaves that have been blowing in this week.
Sunday could be a busy day. The weather is supposed to be good. If so I’ll give a g...
