It is a nefarious plot, I tell you!

I have exercises to do for my leg now. The not-nefarious part is that I got directions on how to exercise my leg and pull weeds in the garden at the same time in addition to the printed stuff the rehab folks gave me. The truly evil part is the printed stuff. They don’t look like much but ...

    It's not raining yet

It sure is cloudy, though. Positively perfect for therapy… er… weeding. I went out first thing this morning and finished the first row of onions. I did a row – they’re actually half-width rows 15’ or so) and a bit more of the tomatoes and decided it was time to ba...

    Queue the Hallelujah chorus?

I was off to the orthopedist’s today to find out if there was any tendon or ligament damage to my leg. I’ve been chillin’ and sittin’ in my lazy boy chair for the last two weeks. The answer? Start doing things to get that leg back into shape. Don’t overdo it. See ...

    peanuts sprouting

And so the experiment reaches its next step. They’re in rows, they’re not any weeds I instantly recognize so they must be the peanuts. LOL They probably sprouted a day or two ago but I didn’t know what to look for and everything I see is from a standing perspective so I didn&#...

Adaptive gardening techniques? (alt title: Ok, so I'm stubborn.)

Well, I’m doing what I can to work around having one functional leg and one halfways functional leg. The specialist said to wrap my thigh in an ace bandage and sit with my feet up. Beat me with a stick and then let me move around normally. Please. Sit? Still?? …stick, please. Ok....

    And the band played on.

Well, the past few days were… memorable. The big storm brought down the monster pine tree that the electric company agreed was a hazard to the power lines it was leaning toward. It was probably a microburst. The force of the wind was enough to literally shatter the tree at the base. It d...

    Transplants

Monday off. So, after the yard dried off I did some moving this afternoon. There is a chance we will see one more frost (holiday weekend/Tuesday possibly) but I’ll take the chance. The grapes are coming back. New leaf growth among the frozen ones. Good news for the yard: when we bought ...

German Butterball in and... still in the herbs

So I have 26 hills of red potatoes and 12 of German Butterballs now. When I did about half that that many I got about 120 pounds of potatoes. I’ll need to come up with storage this fall I guess. I continued working on the herb garden tonight. Still need to work through the back row of mi...

I could rename the herb garden "the Weed Garden" Garden...

and it would be a lot easier. But since I’m re-finding the creek stone walkways I built I guess I’ll keep pulling weeds. If there is Zen, it is in the garden. I still hope to rediscover it. I almost caught a glimpse tonight, I think. It was so easy to see when my little yellow bird...
