    Yellow Currant Flowering
Another spring storm dropped 11.5" of snow in the yard yesterday… and on the flowers and plants trying to get growing. These yellow currant flowers are indicative of the struggles that the plants have been having this year. The snow and the cold temperatures set a record here. 11.5&quo...

    Tomato Seedlings

Tomato 'Spudakee Purple' 2012 , Tomato 'Cirio 49' 2012 , Tomato 'Sun Gold' , Tomato 'Amazon Chocolate' 2012...
The Tomato seedlings are looking good. Some are starting to show true leaves, all that are going to sprout are sprouted I think. I see some roots starting to stick out around the edges, which means things are good at this point. These will likely need transplanted by early next week.

    Picked a Pile of Peppers

Bhut Jolokia Harvesting, Trinidad Scorpion "Butch T" Harvesting, Trinidad 7-Pot 'Brain Strain' Harvesting, ...
With the weather forecast calling for snow tomorrow, I decided to put an end to the nightly “put the peppers in the garage”, and “put them back outside in the morning” routine and pick all of them. Overall, there was one Earthbox left and about 14 pots of peppers, so it to...

(catching up journal entries…this is regarding final harvests of tomatoes in October 2012) The home grafting experiment was inconclusive at best. My hypothesis was that heirloom tomatoes would be more vigorous, and more disease resistant if grafted onto disease resistant rootstock of robust...
