Sunny 32°C / 90°FNot only did I plant out the pink, lavender, red and Rose pentas kept over in the greenhouse, Susie gave me a pot with 2 of Julie Neel’s favorite pink pentas and a white for the butterfly gardens. I planted the white Pentas in the Yellow Chicken Rose Garden and the pinks with other pinks.

I planted out the amaryllis into the gardens. I ended up with a pink that never bloomed and a pink that bloomed dark red. The dark red one went into the beds outside the carport. The non-blooming pink went into the Front Walk Bed. The reds went into the front beds as well.Cloudy 21°C / 70°F -

The Pink Amaryllis looks a lot like the Red Amaryllis. Identical, actually. I brought the Pink (not!) one in the house and will bring in the other Red later.Sunny 21°C / 70°F -

Sweet Shrub, or Carolina Allspice
Calycanthus floridus! I smelled it before I saw the blossoms. The blooms are really kewl — there are few plants with brown flowers and such bright green leaves. Still with blossoms on April 16.Sunny 21°C / 70°F -

The Pets broke my ceramic umbrella stand. The top was intact, with jagged edges. I pushed it into the ground near some azaleas under an oak, and filled it with potting soil. Sedum ’Dragon’s Blood’ cuttings went into the improvised planter. -

Sowed seeds of Black Pearl ornamental peppers today in plastic 6-packs in a flat. Black Pearl’s leaves are dark, the blooms are purple and the fruits are black instead of green, turning red when they are ripe. Plans are for Black Pearl with plants with purple blossoms and others with chartr... -

A Baker’s Dozen of Society Garlic for the Orange Rose Bed from a potful that I potted up for the Greenhouse. Last summer I was inspired by beautiful sunny beds of Society Garlic in yards on Country Club Drive in Panama City, along with Crape myrtles of all colors.

Sunny 19°C / 66°FDug the 2 plants of which only one bloomed last summer. Divided each into 3 sections and replanted in the same area. Buffie, my faithful garden helper, dug up 2, which I replanted.
