    Runner bean problem 2
Anybody know why my runner beans have not set? The flowers have just dropped off despite daily watering and the occasional spray.

Death of Potato Vine Potato Vine
Well too good to last. The very cold snap back in March did nasty things to my little plant and now there is absolutely no sign of it. No doubt it was eaten by the dreaded slugs. I suppose I had better think again about what to plant in that spot as apart from the forget-me-nots and wallflowers...

More tulips 2 Surprise patch garden
Eventually got round to planting new tulip bulbs – 10 whites in the right side bed and 10 apricot in the centre bed. This is two and a half months later than those I planted last year. I wonder if it will make a difference. Time will tell.

    Let there be light 2
My next door neighbour is going to have a new fence and today she had gardners in to cut down her rambling roses which I have enjoyed so much for the last 8 years. They, the gardners not the roses, had to come into my garden to get at the longer branches so I asked them to cut back my jasmine wh...

Blooming summer 1 2 Surprise patch garden
A few good blooms but far too much growth of greenery due to the amount of rain we had been having. The blackberries are yielding a very good crop already, I’m sure I used to have to wait until mid-August/September before blackberries could be picked or perhaps that’s just my bad mem...

Planting Out 2 Paeony Showing True Leaves and Surprise patch garden
Had to put copper tape round the pot because a snail/slug had attacked one of the shoots. Leaves look very healthy but absolutely no sign of any flowers, perhaps I have to wait for the second year of growth.
