Gardeners' World Live in Birmingham (oh yeah, there was the Good Food Show too!)

Well, it’s been almost a week since I visited the gardeners’ world live show in Birmingham, and all I can say is that I am totally psyched to to improve my garden. Matt Biggs talked to me! And I learned sooo much on what I still can do with my garden this year, and how to improve it....

    It's been a cold spring

I don’t know, but it just seems to me that this May has been really cold. Not much over 15 degrees every, although sunny and breezy days. I hope that this is not an omen to the rest of the summer. Even if it is, oh well! I have a greenhouse! I planted out my marigolds yesterday (well, m...

Back, for a while at least!

Well, the weeks of being gone have passed, however the sadness is still quite there. I did some gardening (great for the soul too!), and am happy that the stress of the last few weeks are behind me. It’s been quite a tough year in general, but I am happy I have my garden to keep me occupi...

    Been gone for a while

I’ve been gone for a while…… I guess it’s been a busy spring with ups and downs. First of all, Happy Birthday to my sister today. :) That didn’t take more than a 30 minute call to her, but anytime we get our schedules in sync is a good thing. I was on a learning c...

    Busy in the Garden

Well, I’ve been busy the last few days while we were having such wonderful weather. The greenhouse plants are thriving and I’m starting to harden off my onions and leeks. I hope they make it through all of their moving! We’re supposed to get quite low temps tonight, so the gr...

Well, I’m sad today, I transplanted what was left of the garlic bulbs to the graveyard garden, and it seems, despite being in the cold greenhouse, they have gotten frost damage beyond repair. I planted them anyway, but I think they are truly kaputt. :( I took out my mums from the greenhous...

Sunny day in Northern Germany - lots of tidying up going on!

    Passionfruit and Castor oil plant
Well, I did a load of tidying up on my day off from work today! I was sad to start off with, as my mother left for the States again this morning, but the sun was shining and the breeze was blowing, and I got the gardening bug once again. With such beautiful March weather we’ve had today, I...

    It's feeling like spring!

Yay! Got a few plantings in today, since it looks soooo much like spring – well, it feels more like spring than it looks it! This weekend I encountered all sorts of weather – snow, sleet, rain, sun, wind….. But today there’s not a cloud in the sky, and the greenhouse is sh...

    Jumped the gun...

Passionfruit , Onion 'The Kelsae' , and Onion 'Ailsa Craig'
… and I repotted my onions. I have about 30 Ailsa craig onions and 4 “The Kelsae” onions. they are looking a bit sad, but I hope that their new home will be good. My passionfruit is stagnant, but not dead, so that’s good. :) I’ve also updated my bokashi-kitty-litt...
