I’m a newbie gardener working to tame a very large inner-city dandelion field and turn it into a productive and pretty space. I started my first growing season with a 2 by 1 metre vegetable garden, some container plants and a number or fruit-bearing shrubs.

Next year, I plan to put in a low-maintenance shade garden in front of my hedges (to eliminate more lawn), expand my veggie garden a bit and finish my half-completed composter.

When not gardening, I work full time in a maddening and stressful job, volunteer for an excellent federal political candidate, write, knit, sew and, along with my partner, remodel our oldie-but-goodie home, and produce homemade beer, wine and cider. If there’s time left-over, I also enjoy listening to music and reading.
