I was born in Puerto Rico and started gardening at a young age. I went to Europe for 9 years and studied basic botany and established a garden there. When I returned to the US and established our home in Florida (zone 9A), I started gardening but had very little success. I enrolled in a Master Gardener Class to learn more about gardening in Florida and so far I have had a lot of fun gardening growing native plants and some exotics. I am growing plants in containers and also in raised beds. My husband makes the raised beds. I am growing okra, cucumbers, winter squash, tomatoes, and quite a lot of different herbs. I am constantly reading books about gardening and searching the Internet for information on plants and how to grow them.
I am an active volunteer at the Discovery Gardens, Tavares, Florida. It is a lot of fun to grow all kind of plants edible and ornamentals alike.
