Blooming again! Miss All American Beauty Blooming and Southwest Border garden
Wow. Despite the over 100 degree temperatures, Miss AAB manned up and opened blooms for its second flush of the year. I’m definitely going to have to rethink my dislike of this bush. It is showing very little blackspot so far and what it has is likely due to infection prior to the beginn...

    Attack of the weeds
I took two hours this afternoon to combat the weeds that are threatening to take over the back part of the property. It’s hard to grow the things we like, but for some reason, sassafrass, mimosa and volunteer pecans grew like 15 feet in the eight months since I last did battle with them. ...

They're in! Wrinkly Leaved Hosta Planting Out and Front Bed garden
I put the two new hostas into the front bed this afternoon. It was pretty tough getting through that Maple tree’s surface root system. It is so greedy! I lopped a few of the bigger roots and finally got big enough holes to plant these lovelies. I look forward to seeing how they do. Now I j...

It's blooming! Pink Peony Blooming and Southwest Border garden
The blooms are just opening up. My father in law’s have been blooming for a while, but mine always hold out until now. I should remember that I always have peonies for Memorial Day. The plant has gotten so big now that dad says they are ready to be divided. I am just thrilled! And he s...

    New Plants
LaRuse came to town on Saturday so we did a plant swap. She got some lillies & daisies and I got some gorgeous hostas. I know exactly where they are going to go, but it has rained like gangbusters since Sunday morning. At any rate, they will go in the front garden bed. I suppose that means...

    Making a new plan
Four blossoms opened on Mary Rose this morning. Miss All American Beauty is resting at the moment. The tropicana colored mini has two blooms but no leaves. The clematis flowers have blown but it’s climbing so fast it has run out of trellis already. There are 9 blooms on the peony gettin...

    Spraying & Digging
I sprayed the roses again last night. It appears to be my Tuesday evening thing as this is the second week in a row that it has happened that way. There is some blackspot already out there and a few burned leaf tips on Mary Rose. I don’t know whether that’s from the oil in the spra...
