    Rant
I am so mad!!!! What is the point of this?? There is a beautiful blooming oleander hedge in front of my patio, and the “gardeners came”, and… They cut it down about 4 feet, removed all the flowers, I can now see the parking lot and it looks ugly! Why is this considered landscape...

    Crazy tomato update 2
This is an update of the June 22nd entry I made. To summarize, it went something like this: friend goes on long vacation and gives me tomatoes. Upon slicing through one I discover sprouts. I plant sprouts. So… a month and a half later… These crazy things are 4 feet tall and blooming...

    My apologies to snails
So I have been on a warpath with slugs and snails – finding, eliminating and discouraging. My sunflower is pretty much gone. Last night I found the real culprit. A caterpillar!! A huge, fat, hungry caterpillar that was ON what remains of the poor sunflower trying to finish it off. I’...

    Blooming!
The lemon cucumbers are finally blooming – it was such a good idea to make them climb. They started growing three times as fast! They’re healthy and nothing is eating them. The volunteer tomatoes are also doing very well. I’m shyly thinking that I might get some fruit out of at ...

    Slug help!! HELP!! 5
I am at my wits end! Three of my sunflowers that were so promising were DEVOURED overnight, and I can’t find the culprits – but judging by the slime trail left at the crime scene I can say that it was slugs! How do I eliminate them?? The leaves are totally gone, and I’m worried ...

    Looking good! 3 1
Everything is doing so great that I’m becoming suspicious. I always wanted to have a growing garden, but until now I was one of those people who was talented enough to kill a cactus. This morning I I installed a shelf for some of the potted plants, and the patio seems greener. Hopefully w...

Lots of stuff happening! 1 3
Some general updates – I finally staked the cucumbers and beans! I’m so happy they finally got big enough :) I also transplanted some of the tiny tomatoes that made their way here inside the mama tomato. They’re growing very fast but are most likely to become next year’s t...

    Liftoff! Er... sort of. 2
The Topsy Turvy tomato finally succumbed to gravity and is now actually hanging down. I was horrified at first, because I thought it broke, but upon further inspection it turned out that it just twisted down. There is still one branch that is growing up, I wonder if it will do the same thing? I h...
