There is a beautiful blooming oleander hedge in front of my patio, and the “gardeners came”, and… They cut it down about 4 feet, removed all the flowers, I can now see the parking lot and it looks ugly! This is an update of the June 22nd entry I made. To summarize, it went something like this: friend goes on long vacation and gives me tomatoes. Upon slicing through one I discover sprouts. I plant sprouts.
So… a month and a half later…
These crazy things are 4 feet tall and blooming...

So I have been on a warpath with slugs and snails – finding, eliminating and discouraging. My sunflower is pretty much gone. Last night I found the real culprit.
A caterpillar!! A huge, fat, hungry caterpillar that was ON what remains of the poor sunflower trying to finish it off.
