I bought my house in June of 2008, and moved in at the end of September after some major house-rehab. (When I moved in, it didn’t have a floor and was missing some walls.) I’m lucky enough to have 20 acres just out the backyard gate that my father owns, which is zoned agricultural and will be the focus of a wildflower/butterfly garden. The houseyard itself is almost 1/2 an acre and has two spots which were previous garden spots, and which I am hoping to revive.
I’m hoping to grow more foods I can actually eat, and expand the veggies and locally-produced portion of my diet, as well as saving some money.
I’ve grown herbs since I was a little kid, and a few veggies in corners stolen from Mom’s garden, but this will be my first real opportunity to do everything from scratch as I like it. :)
