    Weeds!!!! Veg garden
I got rid of some embarrasingly overgrown weeds today on an overcast morning. I also replanted most of the plants that did not survive feline attentions. Current cover is not very practical as it is time consuming to gain access to the plants hence the difficulties finding time to tend to them. I...

    Jasmine's in bloom..
I love the way this growing. This picture was taken a week or so ago as there are fewer flowers today. The leaves are very similar to the clematis montana which it grows besides. Just have to keep an eye on it so that it does not grow under the shed roof.

    Ants and aphids
This year the clematis has reached the top of the shed and is flowering weel. This is despite attention from aphids and ants. I learnt that ants love the sticky stuff excreted by the aphids so I decided to leave it alone and fortunately the buds were not damaged by the aphids. Maybe that organic ...

The cat was the culprit and there will be none as I have used up all my seed. Next year… I need to rethink my current method of protection.

Surviving cat attacks! Beetroot Boltardy and Veg garden
I am finding gardening a challenge and not just because of pests and diseases but my cat and the neighbourhood cats. This little beetroot has survived their insitence on finding a way into my vegetable beds. Yes I know… I am going thin it in a bit.

Blooming Lovely 1 1 Compost corner garden
This week the buds swelled then burst open. There has a lot of rain of late and although some snails took a bite they have not much this plant as much as others in the rest of the garden. Lovely flowers don’t you think?

Replanting and first harvest 1 Veg garden
I failed on keeping the cats out of my vegetable beds as I forgot how determined a cat can be. Today I repaired my protection after replanting spinach and rocket. I have run out of watercress seeds so that will be on my shopping list for the garden centre. The good news is that I have made my fir...

Vital Effective Good Protection 1 Veg garden
Today I took off the the solar plastic. The weather is warmer and the seedlings are growing. The bed with netting was going to get the same treatment. I use plastic piping to make frames – the ends have short pieces of bamboo stuck in each to prevent dirt getting clogged in there and to aid...
