Well, lets see. I work at a software house here in Houston as a documenter and trainer. Married with 2 girls who have grown up and married so it’s just me, hubby and the dogs.

I just started gardening last year. I decide to try container gardening instead of digging the back yard up. I built 3 earth boxes. Planted Roma tomatoes in two (2 plants each) and bush green beans in the other (3 plants). The green beans grew think crazy with huge leaves (were absolutely beautiful) but did’t produce much. I think they were over crowded. The tomatoes floored me. The plants grew so big I was totally unprepared for staking them. However, I did manage to get them staked and supported and 130 tomatoes off the 4 plants. Thought that was pretty good for my first attempt.

After the tomatoes and green beans, I planted short n sweet carrots in one box, Brussels sprouts in another and lettuce in the third. The carrots grew fast and were amazing. So was the lettuce, however, next time I will stagger the lettuce. Hubby and I can’t each 5 heads of lettuce at once!

My plans for 2013:

1. Build long pallets to set the boxes on so lawn guy can mow around them easier. Need to make 3 to form a u-shape.

2. Build more boxes. (have 5 as of today). Pallets should hold 9.

3.. Expand the worm farm I started last Oct.

4. Build a salad table.

I have way more “I want to’s” but I think short range goals are good for now.
