I live in sunny southern california with my husband and our cat Miss Meow. The ocean is right across the street so it is quite wonderful. The cost of living here is outrageous, but with the ocean at our toes, it is rather difficult to complain.
Prior to 2010, I had never grown an edible thing in my entire life…that would be 45 years worth of living by the way. I am a huge Sunflower grower though. I plant them every year so I do suppose that counts, as sunflower seeds are edible…but I let the birds have them. Once, back in 1980 somthing…I threw a rotten tomato out the back kitchen door during monsoon (rainy) season. In ARIZONA MIND YOU. A couple months later I noticed a green bushy thing with red orby things on it and I was VERY confused. Upon closer examination, I realized “HEY…THATS A TOMATO PLANT! MY ROTTEN TOMATO GREW!” And I did eat the fruit. It was not spectacular…but not bad either. I was rather satisfied and amazed, but I never really got hooked into vegetable gardening. It was the 80’s after all. BIG hair, BIG cars, Heavy Metal and all THAT. I don’t think BIG tomatos would have been all that “cool”.
heh……
Anyhoos, my first veggie garden was started this year. I have asked the Lord to please bless my little garden cuz I could sure use all the help I can get!
