Aughty

Hello ALL and welcome to Aughty’s virtual garden. In the real world these are the items that I am growing now: flowers, vegetables, trees, shrubs, bulbs, spices, etc. I have been gardening in Chicago for 30 years. I have done a lot of moving around but have managed to always have something growing somewhere. I now have a large back yard and I can plant just about anything and everything back there plus there’s still the front yard also. Man am I in heaven. I also love to take pictures of my gardens so you ALL will get to see it grow over the summer months and into the fall before it goes to BED in winter. I am excited to show off my babies so jump on in and take a look around.

I am into square foot gardening because it saves space and TIME. It’s ORGANIC and I’m VEGAN so it a perfect fit for me. This is my second year of trying it and the clean up from last years crop took about an hour to finish. I got to admit it is much easier than the old school. I will spend some of that saved time to paint the boxes this year.

This year I’m into seeds. Since my square foot garden is up and running the time I save will be put into new flower beds around the lot. Take away all the upfront work to clearing an area for seeding, it’s a simple process.

Container gardening is also a thing I like to dabble in. I use them for accent around the entryways and in the gardens.

Most of all in the summer days and nights I like to just sit in my swing under a shade tree read a book and have a nice drink surrounded by the most wonderful smells and colors in the universe right under your feet.

Last but not least, I do composting and plan on trying a different method over the summer. Will let you know how that works out for me. Again enjoy the view, I know I will.
