hmm, so much to write and so little to write it in!
well here goes!
i was born in ’84, and i have been gardening since i was yay tall.
at the age of 16, i left the conventional education system to persue a career in tissue culture. learning was funded by a small printing business i used to have at that time.
my business was focussed on third world cash crops, and my passion was cacti and succulents. another aspect came into the picture later on in life – Indian Medicinal Plants. the wonder world of miraculous cures and potent drugs to cure hiretho incurable diseases. exploring the ancient scrolls of the munis and rishis of old, i began to understand that plants were not always pets and things to please our fancy. they were equal to us, more, they were superior to us. that little basil, holding the cure for common cold, the weedy asparagus – containing one of the most potent nerve regenaration alkaloids in the plant kingdom, the reedy rauwolfia, keeping within it numerous cures, the list goes on.
thus began my adventure…
now i have hundreds of cacti, about 20 orchids, close to 200 Indian medicinal plants, many of them rare and on the official endangered list, and countless other flowering and fruiting plants.
mainly i keep my plants in my greenhouse, rooftop, and the back & front yard.
i also have an orchard type experimental garden in my village.
i grow modified medicinal plants there.
edited to add: i am in the process of updating my garden, and my house is under EXTENSIVE renovation, as in, construction of TWO entire floors/stories. so, naturally all my plants are in a tizzy. and i havent even begun listing my plants. please be patient, i promise my pages here will be fully updated by mid May 2008.
thanx,
Ark!
