I’m now a member of this site as well as several other gardening sites!

I love Amaryllis & last year, 2010, after 4 years, my first Amaryllis grown from my own seed finally flowered! I have one bulb about to flower for the 2nd time, the rest are still lazing away, hibernating, inside their mums’ tums! LOL! :D Hoping they will wake up in the next few weeks.

I don’t have a proper garden as I live in a block of flats. But as my wife & I live on the ground floor we have one of the wider balconies. I cram it full of flowers every year & I try to maintain a few plants at least in flower all throughout the year.

I also share an allotment with a friend from church, Gerry, who has 1 & 1/2 plots. Last year, at the end of March 2010, I made a start giving him a hand to clear away the remains of his plantings from the previous year. During the year we grew lettuces, tomatoes, onions, sweetcorn, runner beans, Pinto beans, Garbanzo beans (aka Chick peas), Lentils, potatoes, green peppers, squashes & rhubarb, black & white currants, (I planted a red currant in Feb), blackberries, gooseberries, apples, plums. We have a greenhouse we put up in June 2010 & grew a crop of tomatoes in it.

Since September 2011 I now have a half allotment of my own but I still continue to work on Gerry’s & he’s helped me as well.
