The Alchemilla herb garden is situated at a small homestead in Oregon City, Oregon.

In 2008, we acquired the property and began growing a large variety of medicinal/beautifying herbs for use in our organic skin care products. We hope to eventually be able to open our garden a few times a year for public viewing.

At Alchemilla, we do not believe in eradication of plant pests by using poison chemicals, but we do believe in building a sound ecosystem that supports plants which naturally thrive. Our gardening techniques involve, for example, improving humus and micronutrient content in the soil through composting, understanding and planting appropriately for the specific microclimate, and encouraging beneficial insects.

Our challenge is to overcome years of neglect, soil compaction…oh, and not to mention the layer of bedrock that sits 6-12 inches below the surface of the entire property!
