Wow it has been a while

Well, life just seemed to carry me away come late last summer and I haven’t kept up with things at all. Even my normally kept hand written garden journal slacked some. I found I could not for the life of my find my planting date on the brussels sprouts when I wanted to look later for about ...

first taste of my homegrown cantaloupe

It was amazingly easy to slice and seed (they almost fell out on their own) however the taste was not at all sweet and the texture grainy. I have a feeling this was due to the rain they received almost every day for the last week, I am hoping it did not spoil the canary melons as well! They were ...

    Fireworks season

Well, only a week to go before I can see my beloved garden again. I have gotten to hear tales though of the masses of delicious tomatoes it has produced in my absence. All goes well in Missouri and it looks like my parents store will do well this year. I sure hope it does. It amazes me just how a...

    WoW am I tired!

20" raised bed pine frame - Edibles garden
I’m going to have to game for several hours just to rest up! If the blisters will let me play that is. I am ecstatic though, to prepare for being gone for two weeks I had to set this garden up to be entirely self sufficient for two weeks. To that end I set a watering timer in the irrigation...

    I hate bugs!

Starting transplants and Misc. plants garden and Tribute Strawberries Dying
Little teeny tiny green bugs were in droves along the stems of all my strawberries. They were tiny about the size of small ant eggs. Anyone happen to know what those buggers are. I keep trying to kill them off of my strawberries but they seem to be in droves!

    Good for stuffing and...?

Tri-Color Sage Harvesting and Herb garden
The tri-color sage established itself quite well into the herb bed. I have harvested leaves off of it a few times. Only for stuffing, anyone know what else this is good in?

    Growing so fast!

    Mother of Thyme Harvesting
I really have not kept good track of my harvests from this plant at all except in my mind and by sprigs only. I use a small amount in a lot of dishes but it makes such a huge difference, sort of like adding it and minced basil to my usual spaghetti sauce recipe!

Moved to the main garden bed.

Swiss Chard - Bright Lights Transplanted
Put them in the shade of my big brandywine tomato, by the time they are ready for full sun the tomato should have phased out I think.
