My wife and I are creating the garden for a 1905 home in Victoria BC. It has been over grown with English ivy, periwinkle and black berries for about 30 plus years. Any of the previous years work has been largely lost under the brush.
As we clear a section new plants emerge and it is always a surprise. Often I am pulling and digging out some unknown weed, only to find a stray that has escaped my hoe that is a lovely perennial, not a “demon seed”.
It has a great south east facing slope of rock and terraces that some hardy soul built at one time. We discovered it 2 years after we started on the garden. It is a great opportunity and a weeding nightmare.
Cheers!

Zone 7 This area is for butterflies and herbs. Unfortunately it does not get full sun only part. The soil is quite shallow and still needs some augmenting.

Zone 7 This is a sun deck about 12 by 20 feet. We have no yard off the back door because we are on a rock cliff.
