On my small south-facing balcony, I grow different kinds of salad greens, as well as a few culinary herbs. I also have a few plants next to a window in a room. All of my plants are grown using passive, non-circulating, no-electricity hydroponic methods, almost all from seed. This year (‘08) is my second year growing edibles, and my first year growing fruit (tomatoes). I never quite got the hang of watering container plants in soil, but with hydroponics I still managed to grow healthy and delicious vegetables, so if you’re like me, hydro is the way to go!
Although my balcony garden isn’t exactly organic, I try to keep it environmentally-friendly by not using pesticides or systems that allow any nutrient runoff.

Zone 11 This is where I document all of my seed-starting adventures. They're really all on the balcony as well, with my other plants.
